Head Golf Professional

Terry Jennings has been the PGA Head Golf Professional at Vista Hills Country Club since 1980, and was designated the Director of Golf Course Operations and Head Golf Professional in 2014.  In this capacity Terry oversees the entire Golf Course Operations that includes Course Maintenance and Playing Conditions, Practice Area Maintenance and Support, Providing Lessons to Members and their Guest, Golf Tournament Scheduling and Support, and Pro Shop Operations that includes all aspects of Scheduling, Marketing, and Support Operations.

Terry hails from Bonnterre, Missouri and attended New Mexico State University from 1969 to 1973, graduating with a degree in Management.  While at New Mexico State University Terry was selected to play in the NCAA Tournament four years in a row beginning with his freshman year.  He was named to the All Missouri Valley Conference Team in 1971 and 1972, and won four Collegiate Tournaments while attending New Mexico State University.

Before Turning Professional in 1975, Terry won the New Mexico Amateur Championships in 1972 and 1973.  Terry became a member of the Professional Golf Association in 1975 and has been a PGA Professional for over 40 years.  Terry’s professional accomplishments include winning the Sun Country Sectional Championship in 1986, and he was also named the Sun Country Player of the Year for 1986.  Terry was also named Professional Merchandiser of the Year in 1993, and earned the coveted Horton Smith Award for Educational Contributions to the Sun Country Section in 1997.

Terry is the proud father of daughter Jackie and son Nate, both of whom are accomplished golfers and teachers (Jackie – Math and Nate – Golf).  Terry is always ready to advance the game of golf by providing lessons to help players improve their game, sponsoring “Golf Camps” for area youth to help grow the game, assisting the local High School Golf Teams that call Vista Hills their home course, or by just offering tips to players working on their game in the practice area and driving range at Vista Hills.  The members also enjoy challenging Terry periodically to an informal “Beat The Pro Tournament” on Saturday Mornings at Vista Hills; beware though, Terry is known to bring his A-Game when your net score is paired with his gross score!
